Discovery Singapore 🇸🇬 History 13,16&18 Century
Singapura (Lion City) , Sang (Nila) Utama is a reference to a 13th-century Palembang Prince from the Srivijaya ruling house. His link to the pre-1819 history of Singapore is his founding of a settlement called Singapura on the island Temasek sometime in 1299 (1299–1347) The sighting of a lion by Sang Utama is often told to explain the renaming of Temasek to Singapura (“City of the Lion” in Sanskrit). Start with the visit ,monument at the Singapore River.
Next visit Fort Canning Hill , Keramat Iskandar Shah (Shrine). He is the fifth in a line of kings and ruled Singapura for three years. He fled Singapura during a Javanese attack, and eventually established Melaka. Parameswara and Iskandar Shah were two names used by the same person. One theory suggests that Parameswara became a Muslim and changed his name to Iskandar Shah. The Ming Dynasty records indicate that the ruler of Melaka, Parameswara, sent tribute missions to China in 1405,1407, and 1409. In 1411, Parameswara, his consort, and a retinue of 540 persons went to China and stayed at Nanjing for two months. The records included details of banquets, gifts, and audiences that this mission had with the Chinese Emperor Yongle 永乐皇帝.
1616, Juan De Silva arrives in the Singapore Straits Palawan Beach near Sentosa. The Spanish Armada set sail from Manila in late January or early February 1616 and dropped anchor off Singapore on 25 Feb Juan de Silva served as the governor of Spanish-controlled Philippines from 1609 till his death at Malacca in 1616. His term as governor fell within a crucial period for the Spanish in Asia and the Americas. And financial resources were stretched to the limits by the on-going war with the Dutch in Europe as well as in the colonies. History show the development of Singapore maybe differently happens the Spaniard rules us. The official language might be Spanish.
